Intensive Care Medicine – Emergency Medicine
We treat patients with nervous system diseases. A particular focus is on the acute treatment of cerebrovascular diseases such as strokes. In our specialized stroke unit, regionally certified as a Stroke Unit, we work within a multiprofessional team specifically trained for stroke care. This team includes neurologists, nursing staff, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists. Our goal is to provide patients with rapid, intensive, and optimal diagnostics, therapy, and care.
Our highly specialized neurosonology laboratory offers comprehensive cerebrovascular diagnostic capabilities. These include Doppler and duplex sonographic examinations of the extra- and intracranial arteries supplying the neck and brain, as well as special examination techniques (e.g., using contrast agents). Furthermore, in our electrophysiology department, equipped with cutting-edge technology, a broad spectrum of peripheral and central neurological examinations can be conducted, such as the recording of evoked potentials, electroneurography, and electromyography. Electroencephalography (EEG) is performed to diagnose epilepsy or clarify unexplained seizures.
