Carotid artery stenosis – our treatment

A carotid artery stenosis (carotid stenosis) can cause serious complications, in the worst case a stroke. Early diagnosis and medical therapy by experienced experts is therefore very important.

Our vascular specialists at Schoen Clinic Vogtareuth have been treating patients with carotid artery stenosisfor more than 25 years. A decisive factor for the quality of our work is our interdisciplinary treatment approach: In close cooperation with our neurologists, radiologists and neuroradiologists, we bundle our expert knowledge in order to provide you with the best treatment of carotid artery stenosis.

For slight carotid artery stenosis, medication and regular ultrasound checks are usually sufficient. For pronounced narrowing (stenosis), surgery may also be necessary. This is a routine procedure for our experienced vascular surgeons, so you are in the best hands with them. In special situations, a catheter-based, interventional intervention can be the better alternative. This is then done by our neuroradiologist under local anaesthesia.
