The ADHD therapy is designed to reduce your symptoms, reduce everyday, disorganisation and relationship problems and thus strengthen your self-esteem. This is meant to help you to help yourself. This requires your active cooperation: You learn to accept your ADHD and to take responsibility for your mental well-being.
If you have developed depression as a result of massive setbacks on different levels, it must be treated first or at least at the same time. Once you have your ADHD symptoms causing constant frustration under control, you can assume that depression and anxiety will no longer occur as before.

Psychotherapeutic ADHD treatment

It contains information about the clinical picture as well as information about the origin, course and possible treatment alternatives.
- Behavioural therapy
Here problematic behaviour, but also irrational convictions and thought patterns are identified, discussed and alternative strategies are practised. Using a so-called disturbance model, you first learn what development you have undergone and which internal and external factors have contributed to it.
Then you work in the "here and now". The aim is for you to leave our ADHD Clinic with concrete strategies, good problem-solving skills, improved social skills and self-organisation skills.
- Indicative group therapy
Here, problem-solving skills are taught and strategies for your individual problem areas are developed. All group participants should learn to control their emotions and impulses and to control their chaos in everyday life. ADHD-typical strengths, such as creativity, imagination, quick comprehension and sensitivity, are also to be used and promoted.
In the coaching process, the "current situation" is questioned and the direction in which you would like to change is clarified. Together with your coach you recognise your skills and learn how to use them optimally to expand your scope of action. During your stay at the clinic, you will practice the strategies you have learned in concrete situations, so that you can use them at home in everyday life.
- Inclusion of partner and family
In individual cases, it may be useful to involve your partner or other important people close to you in the therapy. This helps them to better assess ADHD symptoms and their relevance for the relationship. Together you develop strategies for dealing with each other and learn to minimise conflicts and improve communication and mutual understanding.
- Mindfulness-based exercises
If you feel at the mercy of your rapidly changing thoughts, feelings and impulses for action, here you have the opportunity to distance yourself from these thoughts, feelings and impulses. Mindfulness helps to realise automatic assessments and to neutralise them step by step. It creates a mental space, leads to acceptance and opens up new, self-determined possibilities for action.
Further therapeutic elements can be movement therapy, sports therapy, art therapy or biofeedback.
Medicinal ADHD treatmentAccording to the current guidelines, even moderate ADHD symptoms can make additional drug support useful and necessary. The drugs are so-called psychostimulants, most of which fall under the Narcotics Act. The aim is to achieve a better balance between the individual messenger substances.
In the case of depressive symptoms, certain antidepressants are also used, which can have indirect effects on ADHD. What is particularly important here is precise medical information and advice and, if necessary, close support from the outset.
