Aftercare

Fit and healthy again for everyday life

Hip surgery is your prelude to a new life with increased mobility. To attain this, you’ll receive support during rehab from our professional therapy team. Our therapy is holistic and tailored to you. We want to help you win back mobility through rehab and be free from pain. You will be able to live your life as usual, practise your favourite sports and safely return back to work. Our patient surveys on admission and at discharge, which include the recognised Staffelstein score, show that we can achieve this. Nearly all patients gave Schön Klinik the highest score after rehab.

Rehabilitation and aftercare

Greatly improve your walking distance

Around half of patients cannot walk 500 metres when starting rehab. But through intensive training with our therapists, most patients rapidly increase their personal walking ability. At discharge, 500 metres is a distant memory for nearly all patients. Feedback when leaving the clinic frequently mentions that the new hip felt like the original one. A sign of success for both our patients and ourselves.

Win back everyday skills

After years of altered posture and misalignment, muscles and tendons are frequently shortened. Our physiotherapists demonstrate exercises you can use to stretch specific muscles and rebuild them. You’ll learn how much strain your new hip can take and the movements you can carry out. Training is therefore adapted to your daily life and/or work.

Our social services will make the transition back home easier. We’ll help you carry out tasks, help integrate you back into your workplace and provide advice on all household questions. We also let you know about self-help groups nearby.

Finally, we’ll give you all the information you need for life with your new hip.

Therapy tailored to you

Next, we put together a personalised treatment concept for you. This will include body-related therapies such as physiotherapy, ergotherapy, massages, and sport and movement therapy. Pain therapy is also a crucial component. We use pain medication on the one hand. But on the other hand, we also help you treat your pain yourself and loosen your muscles through Kinesio taping and biofeedback training. In group therapy discussion rounds, you’ll learn more about your own disorder. Why is after-care carried out in several stages? What sports are good for me? What will I need to be aware of in the future, and what should I avoid? The focus is always on protecting the joint.

Diagnosis and medical history: also important for rehab

Your doctors provide us with all important documents on your disorder and details of the subsequent treatment measures in advance. However, we also create our own clinical picture of your current state of health. We therefore first make a note of your medical history and life circumstances before starting rehab. In addition, we also complete a basic diagnosis using imaging methods such as ultrasounds and physical examination.
