An individualised treatment plan

Patient suffering from back pain at work

A wide spectrum of treatments to meet your individual needs

Back pain may be due to a variety of causes. Schoen Clinic Back Institute specialises in assessing these causes to provide you with the best-possible treatment tailored to your individual needs. Last year, we treated several thousand people with back problems, making us one of the leading experts in Germany in this field. Our goal is to relieve your pain and restore your movement and function as quick as possible—helping you to improve your quality of life.

From the beginning, we do our utmost to determine the causes of your pain. After having performed the required diagnostic tests, you will receive a confirmed diagnosis and our recommendation for the best-possible treatment. At this point, we will provide you with a clear treatment plan with concrete next steps. In addition, our experts will show you how you can best prevent your pain in the long term.

Our specialists treat all back problems and injuries, both acute (pain lasting no more than six weeks) and chronic (pain lasting longer than twelve weeks). Our services cover a wide range of treatments, including among others: age-related wear and tear of the spine, vertebral fractures, herniated discs and congenital malposition.

If you already have a diagnosis and would like a second opinion, you are also welcome to come to us.

Total care pathways to relieve your back pain

Spine specialists and physiotherapists work together to develop a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs and goals. Our goal is to ensure that you get back on your feet as quickly as possible.

  • What is causing your back pain? Already before your initial consultation, we start looking for evidence. Your complaints are systematically recorded every day through a special questionnaire, which is the basis and an important component of the diagnostic puzzle. Questionnaires, physical and diagnostic imaging tests as well as special diagnostic tests and even diagnostic injections can all provide crucial information. If you have any questions during this process, our staff will be happy to assist you.

In the course of your treatment pathway, we will focus intensively on your personal challenges and requirements. At Schoen Clinic we consider this individualised treatment approach to be an important component of long-term treatment success.

  • When you first visit us, your consultant has already formed a picture of your symptoms based on the available findings. During the initial consultation, your consultant will perform a comprehensive assessment of the pain problem that includes various tests and exercises in a targeted manner. This consultant will be your central point of contact throughout the entire treatment, accompanying you in your recovery process all the way up to aftercare.

  • Sometimes it is easy to identify the source of the pain that causes back problems. Mostly, however, accompanying examinations are necessary, such as 4D spine measurement, accurate strength measurement, bone density test, laboratory diagnostics and manual tests. These provide your consultant with important information.

All necessary examinations are performed at our Spine Institute, so that you receive an accurate diagnosis as quickly as possible. Thanks to the short distance, no information is lost and you have no unnecessary waiting times.

  • If your diagnostic test results do not provide a consistent or coherent picture, we will involve a wider clinical team for an individual case discussion. All experts of the involved specialties meet on a regular basis to discuss the findings that are posing a conundrum. The end result is usually an initial diagnosis and a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs.
